The new regulations in Turkey’s electricity and natural gas markets were discussed in the Grand National Assembly for about three months and were enacted on May 5, 2024. The law, published in the Official Gazette on May 11, 2024, includes key changes such as permitting floating renewable energy plants without zoning plans, enabling unlicensed electricity generation facilities that have been operational for 10 years to transition to licensed production, and adding the definition of “liquefaction of natural gas” to the Natural Gas Market Law.
